I just love Christmas time and one of my favorite parts of the holiday season is all the smells associated with it such as peppermint, pine and cider. Instead of filling your home up with chemicals from products such as room sprays and even candles, make a batch of stove top potpourri from all natural ingredients that smell amazing. You can use all kinds of ingredients like orange peels, cinnamon sticks, spices, and apples to concoct a fragrant pot to let simmer on the stove that will fill the whole house with wonderful smells. Add a little water to the pot and let it simmer throughout the day, adding more water when necessary (it will slowly evaporate). Here are a few easy recipe ideas to get you started…
Here’s a basic batch I whipped up with orange peels, cinnamon sticks and a bit of ground cinnamon.
This classic Christmas scent smells aaaamazing!
I just love the idea of adding pine cones to the mix! I haven’t tried this yet but I sure will this year! 🙂
Lemon slices, sprigs of rosemary and a dash of vanilla make a great combination.
This mix of cranberry, lemon, cinnamon and clove is very aromatic!
